picture in the paper, the new members being inducted, the Medina Achievement
Center sending Care Packages to the troops, missed meetings, goodd weather for
opening day (wishful thinking), GO TRIBE, Steve’s first round of golf for the
season (score 63 told by a “friend”), a quick end to the war, great
attendance, Hall being so nice, fine weather, general purposes, 232 days until
Michigan, Karen’s trip to FL to visit family, Ralph’s picture in the paper,
the exchange students trip to DC and Gettysburg which is coming up on April
10-13, the Exchange students currently in FL for Spring Break, Melanie’s dogs
in the paper, Melanie’s son who is still stateside, Cinzia’s daughter Emma
who is rolling everywhere now, for the substitute Sgt @ Arms, the speaker,
Bob’s medical ghost writer, Rod’s cousin (who is the speaker), Rod’s
daughter being at grandma’s for 2 nights, Bijay visiting Tom Block, the
urologist’s office asking “Can you hold?”, our Harold Friedt memorial
dinner this evening, GSE team from Egypt next month, the Cavs, the ability to
tell Brian and Brad apart, Bob B’s joke, a make-up meeting, Carol Ferron’s
knowing the difference between Brian and Brad.

Highway
Clean-up: Our
first Highway clean-up of the season will be on April 12th.
The first one is always the messiest so please plan on helping out.
Breakfast will be at 7:00 a.m. at the Medina Diner.
Service Opportunity:
On May 17th, we will be having
a “Clean-up the Square Day" and clean-up at Camp Paradise.
Sign-up sheets will be circulating at the meetings.
Program: Tonight’s speaker was Dan
Sveda from the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank
The food bank servies 8 counties: Medina, Summit, Portage, Wayne, Stark,
Holmes, Tuscarawas and Carroll. Currently
367 organizations from the 8 counties use the Foodbank.
The 3 types of Charitable Organizations that use the Foodbank are Food
Pantries, Hot Meal Sites and other programs (such as shelters and disaster
relief).
The
hungry are mostly made up of 39% children, 11% elderly and 28% with families
that have someone working. In 1996
5.4 milllion lbs of food were distributed whereas in the last 2 years 9.5
million lbs of food has been distributed each year.
The food sources come from local donors (31%), USDA (32%), State of Ohio
(8%), America’s Second Harvest (10%), other Foodbanks (8%), Food Drives (5%),
and Purchase Program (6%). In the
past year 144 food drives brought in 344,078 lbs of food.
The Foodbank employs 20 full-time and 6 part-time employees.
Volunteers doanted 12,539 hours in 2002 which is equivalent to almost 6
full-time workers.

Fireside
chat: Rich
Bidinger will be hosting a "Fireside Chat" at 6:00pm on April 17th at
Rustic Hills Country Club. It will be held downstairs at the Club.
This is for new members and anyone else who wants to attend. On April 18th
is the Good Friday Breakfast at Rustic Hills. If you cannot make it
to the Good Friday Breakfast and plan to go to a "round table"
at Rustic Hills on Thursday night, also plan on helping with the "Fireside
Chat".
